Communication in Human–AI Co-Creation: Perceptual Analysis of Paintings Generated by Text-to-Image System

In recent years, art creation using artificial intelligence (AI) has started to become a mainstream phenomenon. One of the latest applications AI is generate visual artwork from natural language descriptions where anyone can interact with it create thousands artistic images minimal effort, which provokes questions: what essence creation, and who in this era? Considering that, study, theoretical communication framework was adopted investigate difference interaction text-to-image system between artists nonartists. experiment, ten nonartists were invited co-create Midjourney. Their actions reflections recorded, two sets generated collected for question-answering task, painting created by artist as reference sample. A total forty-two subjects backgrounds participated evaluated experiment. The results indicated differences groups their attitude toward AI, while technology blurred perception caused creator’s experience. addition, attention should be paid on effectiveness level better value.
